Direct Election
The examination is structured into three stages: Prelims, which serves as a qualifying round for entry into the Mains; Mains, a substantial phase accounting for 900 marks; and the Interview, which contributes 120 marks.

The number of candidates selected for the Main Examination will be ten times the total notified vacancies.
For the Interview stage, the number of candidates selected will be two and a half times the total notified vacancies.
Upon successfully passing the BPSC Mains Exam, candidates will become eligible for the interview round. Subsequently, candidates will participate in the BPSC Interview phase. Those who qualify will undergo document verification. The interview aims to assess candidates' general knowledge, personal attributes, and job-related skills. Candidates who meet the selection criteria will proceed to the document verification stage, after which they will be formally hired. The interview round carries a total of 120 marks.
